A study of Time use and Occupational areas According to the Characteristics of Elderly who using local elderly welfare center : A pilot test

Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate how the use of daily time and occupational areas according to the characteristics of the elderly who using local elderly welfare center.

Methods : The subjects of this study were 20 elderly people over 65 years old who using local elderly welfare center. The time use of subjects research by occupational questionnaire and Occupational areas based on Occupational Therapy Practice Framework-¥²; OTPF-¥². The play area was excluded. The collected time were using frequency analysis and descriptive statistics according to subject¡¯s characteristics.

Results : Both men and woman had the most resting and sleeping areas (³² 36.8%, ¿© 31.85), In all subject¡¯s ages used more time ADL, IADL, rest & sleep and leisure than social participation, education and work. The subjects with mental history and medical history had spent less time in areas of social participation, education and work. The subjects of spouse dead and alone used a lot of time in most occupational areas. At the cognitive level, At the cognitive level, it was
found that the high cognitive subjects spend a lot of time in most of the occupational areas.

Conclusion : The results of the study has identified that there are differences between the elderly characteristics and the time use of occupational areas, we found out distribution of subject¡¯s routine and occupational areas. Therefore, If we study the time use of elderly in carious contexts, we should suggest more strategic occupation for the elderly and lead to meaningful intervention.
